Seriously, I can’t think of even ONE good reason to go to Greece.
I mean – so many of the buildings are old and not at all beautiful…
Always let the light through! On Friday and Saturday I explored Athens and walked up to The Acropolis, which comes from the Greek words ἄκρον (akron) meaning highest point and πόλις (polis) meaning city — just as an FYI it's not really the highest point in the capital city (but more about that another time). Pictured here is the Parthenon which was dedicated to the goddess Athena, whom the Athenians considered their patron. Construction began in 447 BC.
And even the newer ones are boring to look at…
It isn’t like you can find amazing man-made accomplishments entwined with incredibly unique nature
The thought of travelling on your own somewhere could easily fill you with dread. I’m here to tell you why that’s kinda the reason you should go…… new post on CarryOnOrBust (link in bio) https://carryonorbust.wordpress.com/2017/03/23/4-reasons-to-take-off-solo-at-least-once/ #travel #travelholic #travelwriter #travelphotography #greece #greek #meteora #monestary #convent #rossanou #mountains #solotravel #solo #independentwoman
The seaside villages aren’t even picturesque
The Cycladic Island of Andros, only two hours by ferry from Athens, is not as well known among international tourists as Mykonos or Santorini and at this time of the year, during the low season, it's quiet — we haven't met any other tourists during our self-guided hikes with @onfootholidays — so we've had the friendly locals, delish food & awesome hiking trails all to ourselves.
And the big cities aren’t attractive at all
Storm over Athens – a favourite view from last year 💙🇬🇷💙 • • • • • #travel #Greece #Greek #athens #αθήνα #ελλαδα #ελλαδα🇬🇷 #ελλας #storm #thunderstorm #summer #καλοκαιρι #summerstorm #cityscape #city #skyline #clouds #cloudporn #stormporn #wanderlust #takemeback #acropolis #parthenon #view #beautifuldestinations #glt_travel #wetravelgirls
The vistas are just blah
The colour of the water is just so dull! Who would want to photograph this??
Nothing to see at all ;-P there are many types of writing I love and satire is one of them. Greece gets a lot of press coverage and it certainly isn’t all favourable. No matter what issues the country may have in the eyes of Western media it is a beautiful, wonderful, unique place – and this post only covers the physical country! Just wait until I get started on the food and wonderful people!
